If one word could describe me for this past part of a year, I would say lazy. Lazy is the one word describing me in the name of this blog, and is the one word condemning my very existence. So no more excuses, no tears, and no fighting, I am officially saying I’m back, and for awhile I hope.
Anyways, I am back with new stories to tell, and new blog posts to come. And as you can see here’s the first one, If one word. Basically how this post will work is I come back every week with a word that could describe my life, and basically use that word as an entry way into blabbing about my week. I will use a variety of different words as a way to not only increase my vocabulary but to keep this interesting, and to keep me sane (if you guys only knew lol).Warning, if you think these posts are going to be short, they’re not, they’re going to be reminiscent of how my week was LONG and AGONIZING lol. So today marks the first “episode per say”, with the word being, drum roll please… Sticky!
A weird way to start this off I know, but come on, no one can say that their week hasn’t been sticky in any type of way lol (you get my drift ;p). I’m only kidding, but seriously my week has been all types of sticky, I mean I’ve literally had two presentations back to back, and one 18 paged group essay, all in one week, and we’re not even talking social life, but oh wait… I think the “social life” just left the building but anyways. Life this week has just been really fucking sticky.
Let me begin, it all started with all the deadlines approaching like lions attacking for their next meal and me being like the scared zebra running for it’s life with all it’s might. It was truly horrifying. And guys this was all on a MONDAY, so I mean by Wednesday I was just praying to live to see finals. But to get back, Monday was hell like every week, I went to a class that has a teacher so fucked up in the mind that even I thought she was a reject from nerdyville, and I’m nice. Lol I have my days, but she’s stuck in high school living the life a unpopular, socially awkward girl (not being mean or rude, just ranting) and because of this she picks favorites and likes the guys but hates on girls. And sometimes she’s just so desperate to make a connection that she’ll lie about anything. Like I just hate this class, and can’t wait for it to be over.
Then Tuesday came, and well lets just say that my heart has been broken into 8 little pieces. If you are unaware, which all of you are lol, then you don’t know that I’ve broken up with my long time, off and on boyfriend of 5 years probably for the last time. I’m not going to go into details, but lets just say after Superbowl my heart did more leaps than lady gaga. But Tuesday didn’t hurt until I realized I lost the one person that was like food to me, neccessary and valuable. It took Instagram posts of happy couples to knock me down, and I don’t even know if I’ve gotten up yet. To make that worse, I pulled an all niter working and writing and waiting for a miracle of 18 pages that contain my soul and 5 other girls included. It was a nightmare.
Wednesday, a trip to hell with a presentation. Overall the presentation was good, but I noticed that my classmates literally did not give two shits about what we were saying, I mean the disengagement was like a stake to my heart. Like I honestly felt like I was being dragged through the streets to be shamed for cheating on a test or something, like that’s how intense their stares were, when they came back from spacing out from all over the room. It was like away, stab, away, stab. And just to say, group projects are the worst things you will ever encounter in college, enough said. This day also features another night of staying up until dawn, while binge watching forensic files and catfish.
Thursday, can we just skip it like it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good on my side of the bargain. Like I literally started my presentation for speech class, and well it was due today, and the whole time I was literally just watching forensic files (killing myself slowly with paranoia, it should be called). But good news, I did finish my project, and made it to class at 7:30 p.m., only missing 1 hour and 30 minutes, don’t ask why lol. But yeah, and it ends with me laying in my bed at 12:30 writing this blog post and trying to not wake up my roommates (so hard). WTF, did I just perform inception, how did that happen lol, jk.
But in the end, there’s 2 conclusions to be made, 1. Friday has not happened yet (even though this is up on Friday lol, Inception I tell yah) and 2. life this week was definitely sticky, I mean the shit going on is literally like glue to my body, it follows me everywhere I go. So anyways, I’m going to end this here and I hoped you liked this post, I mean it was something that just came to me, putting two things together I love, ranting and writing. Think of this like my diary, except for you all to read and experience with me.
So today I decided to have some pure fun and answer some would you rather questions, and I purely did it to make you guys happy, lol no because I was lazy and didn’t prepare my other posts for today, but anyways. So I have picked some pretty cool questions that are funny, gross, and maybe even borderline inappropriate but when and doubt let’s do it anyways. Have fun reading my on the spot gibberish and feel free to do these questions as well, matter o fact click here for the place I took the questions from. Anyways, on with the show!!
1). Would you rather swim through a lake floating with dead bodies or a lake of sewage water and the industrial wastes?
To be honest, I would have to pick swimming through a lake of dead bodies because let me just tell you sewage water has shit and piss involved and that is definitely not my thing like no, even though those dead bodies would have defecated in the water so I guess it doesn’t really matter lol. But Honestly it does.
2). To suffer from stomach ache for the rest of your life or have a bowl of your own shit for a week; which one would you rather do?
Umm well let me tell you like this, I AM NOT EATING WHAT I HAD TO PUSH THROUGH MY BODY TO GET OUT! At least for the stomach ache I have medicine I could take. You never come back from eating your own shit, remember that.
3). What would be less embarrassing to you; in an interview you sneeze and stutter or the sixty years old business leader of the company flirts with you and you have to humor him even when you think that he is a creepy and disgusting?
An interview where I sneeze a million, jillion times like for real I’m not up for getting hit on by someone twice my age no five times my age.
4). Would you want to be become powerful and fearsome like a dragon or have a magical dragon at your beck and call?
Become powerful and fearsome like a dragon because yes!
5). What will be a nightmare for you; be hairy all over the body and unable to shave it or being hairless even with no hair on your head?
My ultimate nightmare in this situation is, believe it or not, being hairless with no hair on my head. Like I would love it if my body was just hairless so I wouldn’t have to shave but I need hair on my head because that’s like my stress ball. My hair is the part that keeps me sane in life lol. (Like my post if you agree lol)
6). What is your worst fear; to be buried alive or to drown in a sea?
I would have to say that my fear would be drowning in a sea, like trust me it’s the absolute worse thing that could ever happen to me. Imagine a vast image of blue where when you look down you could see nothing but black and blue. A place where animals smell you before you can even see them lift their kind of nostrils. A place where every creature is dangerous, I would have a panic attack and die, so bury me alive!
7). Would you choose the superpower of seeing and creating the future as you like or rather change the past as you desire?
I honestly would choose to see and create the future as I would like because changing the past is like changing myself, and I really really really like who I am soooo changing the past for me would be useless.
8). Would you suffer in solitary confinement for five years to become rich and famous or never become rich to avoid prison and torture?
I will take suffer in solitary confinement for 500, Alex. But really I would rather suffer and work for having money and opportunities then just coward away. Like if you can survive for five year in solitary confinement, you literally deserve to have 10 million dollars. Case and point.
9). Would you rather have an orgasm and then pain or never feel the orgasm?
Umm, without being awkward I’m going to say that I would rather have the orgasm and then the pain after. Like the way I see it is if I put out hard work for you and you did the same and I didn’t orgasm well umm, let’s just say I wouldn’t be the happiest camper. Literally and Physically. The orgasm is like the A you get on a paper when you did a great job and because I’m a superficial student, I NEED that A.
10). Would you rather pet a dragon or a dinosaur?
Dinosaur, I would feel more accomplished if my hand wasn’t severed or worse I wasn’t killed. It would feel like I was indestructible and immortal.
11). Would you rather be completely bald or have hairs on some of the part of the head?
Completely bald, I would look like Angela’s doll with small areas of hair.
12). Would you rather be left in a desert or in Antarctica?
In Antarctica, let me freeze with my sanity!
13). What would be less gross; to enter your parent’s room while they are naked or rather to make love with your brother/sister?
To be honest, entering my parent’s room while they are naked because I would never stop throwing up after making love with my brother, like a year after I would be BVlahhhhhhhh all over the place. I would be put in a mental institution, thats how bad it would be.
14). Would you watch a porn video where your boyfriend/girlfriend is having sex with someone else or rather peep into your parent’s room when they are making love?
How long do I have to watch my parents? Is my boyfriend with a random girl or an ex? Is this his job or did he just use this as an excuse to cheat? These questions matter, like I think overall I would take watching my boyfriend’s sex tape because it would just be meaningless.
15). What would be worse; to accidentally watch your father masturbating or rather your sister masturbating while talking to her boyfriend?
Umm listen, to all of you, my relationship with my dad is DEF not like that sooooo, yeah. I would take watching my sister masturbate with her boyfriend because at least I can give her tips, lol no at least it’s not crossing that many boundaries as my dad would be.
16). What is a gross nightmare; to have bird droppings in your hair for the whole day or rather eat bird droppings for five minutes as a dare?
Eating Bird shit is equivalent to me eating my own shit, soo yes that is my grossest nightmare I could ever have!!!!
17). Would you prefer to eat gum which was stuck on someone else’s hair for a few hours or rather have sticky gooey gum stuck in your hair for a day?
Umm, if I have the gum in my hair will it come back out because if it does I’m game lol.
18). Would you prefer bad breath or rather sweaty and sticky hands when you meet your best friend and long time crush after some time?
On the real, I would rather have sweaty, sticky hands because let me tell you that was just what me and my boyfriend’s date was like and obviously it wasn’t that bad because we’re together lol. It isn’t that bad to be honest, it’s better than bad breath.
So that was me answering some very entertaining but borderline weird as hell questions. I literally hope you guys love this post because to be honest it was really fun answering the questions because they were SUPER funny! Really though, I had so much fun ad if you guys want to see something like this then definitely like it or whatever the hell you want to do ad definitely do these questions if you can because let me tell you you will have soooo much freaking fun, I swear. Like they even have these questions for couples, which I’ll ask my boyfriend a couple to see his reaction, but anyways once again I hope you enjoyed and umm definitely have a good day and stay tuned for some awesome things happening soon!
Sorry to some of you, I was just having some fun, and well if your reading this part and saying you should be. Umm how do I say this politely granny, it’s the twentieth century have some fun and loosen those panties of yours and have some fun lol.
So guys I want to explain a couple of things before we start communications again. I left blogging. I didn’t take a vacation or just take a leave of absence, I left for real and was going to never come back! Yep me, the non-quitter was about to quit and to be honest I’m not ashamed of my close call. Now before you lose all respect for me let me explain.
I left for one reason, one reason only. I was pissed that you, my audience, isn’t as interactive as I want them to be. They aren’t my audience it seems. I was just hurt that you guys didn’t care about my giveaway and that what I was trying to do was important and I kind of just lost it. And to be honest I lost sight of what was important, views and likes! And I’m not being shy but I’m finally realizing my problem, which is I’m not giving you the desired content you want. I looked through all of my posts I saw that the highest liked and viewed ones are not my book review, no they were my honest lifestyle posts. The posts that I always enjoyed doing, turns out that effort worked out better. So today, the day I decided to keep this blog alive and away from the chopping block I made a decision to remake this blog. And before a riot begins, I am not taking the bookish part away, no I’m just adding the lifestyle part to my blog that you guys like so much. So this is not only for me, but it’s for you to get the content you want!
But before I finish, I want no I need you guys to answer the poll I’m going to leave at the end of this. It is absolutely essential for me to know if you like this, if you don’t or whatever. I just want some feedback to get me back into the swing of things! So the new dates for posting are Wednesday and Friday, and occasionally Mondays; I will let you know on twitter if I’m not posting! SO please fill out my poll and umm be cool lol!!
Today happens to be the last post on my all time favorite books, series versus stand alone’s, and well now comes the hard decision of which one to pick. I know it may seem a shock to you but I did have trouble picking the book because these are like all my favorites and well let me tell you its like a cat fight trying to pick one. Never fear though, I have finally decided on a book and well it’s maybe a bit more surprising then you think so drum roll please, The Distance Between Us is my final decision because like why not! But stayed tuned cause I got some ‘splaining to do!
So lets get to the point, I picked this book for many reasons and I really want you guys to know why and even come to appreciate why I did. The first reason I picked this book was well the romance was quite infecting and personally was GOALS for me, like to be honest I want that to be my future boyfriend. But also because of the easy flow of the writing and the humorous endeavors and the drama in wonderland, it was like one of the rainbow lollipops that was endless in colors and flavors. AMAZING, insert emoji lol.
Another reason was that the book was not time consuming and was very enjoyable, even if your having a bad day, like it just created a small hole of happiness that turned into the spacious air of happiness. Like the book made me feel like a true human being, and even that’s surprising lol! But honestly this book just created so real emotions that connected me to the world, and that was real, and I honestly want you guys to feel that too.
And you guys can because I’m throwing a GIVEAWAY that’s actually going to happen lol! For a whole month there will be a giveaway for this book, The Distance Between Us, and special other gifts that are my secretive secret until it’s time. But trust me you won’t want to miss out, because you’ll be truly upset. But here’s some details for the giveaway entrance:

So if you read my post last Wednesday you would know that today is going to be dedicated to my favorite stand alone’s and lets just say that I’m very excited. But before you read this one check out part one here or read it later, your choice guys. But anyways here’s the next part and I hope you enjoy and remember I’m going from 7 to 1 from the best to my all time faves, so yeah here’s the post.
7. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
We Were Liars was a book that completely made me think and wonder while devouring words, it was literally that good. This book had me going from the very beginning and had the best ending, and if you haven’t heard about it here’s my review, and it was just so surprising. I can’t give out any details due to the people who haven’t read the book yet so yeah. But the book was and is absolutely great, definitely read it. You won’t expect the ending!
6. Parallel by Lauren Miller
Two different universes, and that’s how you get me on a silver platter you know. Like I don’t know what it was but the different parallel universes definitely was very appealing to me. But this book was just a mix of everything from the sciency things to the romantic decisions, it was just the imaginary tale of my life that I really want because its great. The characters also made this a joy to read because they were just the right amount of different and indecisive parts I want. So anyways I loved this book and well you know I had to put it in my faves but also check out the review I did on it.
5. Afterworlds by Scott Westerfield
This book was absolutely intriguing, and had me in a trance, like this book was real and when I mean real, I mean real. But what do I mean, I mean that this book brought different elements and used like magic and wah-lah it was the best in seconds. But I also love the book because of the characters, and how the characters personality was formulated as the pages went on and to be exact, the grey pages were my ultimate fave for the character development. The best part also seemed to be the slight romances in both of the stories, like they were both good and made me want more, but here’s my actual, non-rambled thoughts .
4. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
OMG this book was so amazing like I when I say amazing I mean that it was everything that I wanted in this masterpiece. Like the romance was intense and had me going from the very beginning and just made me want to live in between this couple, or soon-to-be couple. I also loved this book because it had a very down to the earth tone and plot and just really made me want to keep reading when nothing was left. Basically this book was everything and not enough at the same time. I just want to say a big thanks to Kasie West for her ability to write romance, just saying (here’s the review.)
3. Amy and Roger Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
All I can say is YES, YES, YES! This book was like all that and a bag of potato chips and definitely spotted attention and never let go. I loved the romance, but hated how long it took for a couple to come together, I also loved both of the characters and their cute ways and I think I feel in love with the male figure, but like that always happens soo you know. But what was also cool is that they went across all of the united states (I think?), and both of the characters developed together and made a consistent change. So it really was a book that I devoured quickly and haven’t forgotten about it yet! Definitely add it to your reading list, you won’t be disappointed!
2. Stolen:Letter to my captor by Lucy Christopher
Guys, I think I’m getting emotional again like I definitely went through something in this book, and it was too serious. This story of a girl being taken and going with this guy was so heartbreaking and it just messed with me for a bit, and I think it was because of the relationship, and how this guy wanted nothing but to help her and yet she denied and never took his help, even though she was right, it just showed a sight that I wasn’t ready to know about. This book was literally so good that it made me cry and beg god to just change the ending, which never happened but you know I could wish. It was just so hard, yet so easy to read which just made it a horrible experience because these two were perfect, and I just want to cry again.
1.The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
This one book did a number to me, like if you thought I was emotional over stolen, you have another thing coming. This book, with its characters and plot line was just so majestic and touching that I was in tears when I was done. Everything put together is the reason that it is number on on my list, because of its heartbreaking end and heartwarming beginning, you really never get enough of those two and you never want it to end because the author does such a good job into weaving two people together that are ABSOLUTLEY perfect. It really does make you feel something deep and really hits a heart string and never comes from your memory, ever. So read it, watch it, and bring your box of tissues and you’ll never feel like this again.
So thanks for reading guys, join me for the last part next week (part 3) to find the final book out of all of them, which is my overall favorite. Leave a comment below telling me which is your fave and make sure next week when you come be prepared for something, which will be very special, so tune in. Alright guys, have a good day and i’ll see you Friday 🙂
So I have a coupleof questions to ask you guys if you don’t mind. Also the reason for the questions is because I want to please you guys while I’m pleasing myself, which is really how a functional relationship works, so I’m trying to keep our relationship on good terms. Which brings me to question 1.
Question 1: Would you guys like if I did a book club or talk between me and you or other book bloggers? I would love to do this because I would get out of my comfort zone and venture into other genre’s so let me know. I’ll have a survey here so if you don’t want to comment you can pick anonymous.
Question 2: I love writing and have been working on some stories, so would you guys care to read them or do this cool thing where people start off the writing and evererybody adds into it? I want to know because I have a great passion for writing and wanted to share it with somebody, or in this somebody’s lol.
So guys let me know if you like these ideas either by comment or by the survey that I’ll leave somewhere and umm till then I will see you and I’m very sorry my post is today instead of yesterday, blame it on the boogie lol no blame it on my job
It is I Setierah, and today I have a post that is all about my favorite series but never fear after today I will be doing two more parts commemorating my favorite stand alone books, and then lastly I’ll pick a favorite out of all of them, so stayed tune for that. Let me know if you guys love any of the series as well, and well tell me in the comments to start a conversation between me and you. But without further ado, let’s get into the list of series that are my fave (in order going down from six to one good to all time fave).
7. Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer
So guys I had to put this series on here because this is the book that started it all, it began my obsession and well has began the fight between were wolves and vampires and team Jacob (ME!!) and team Edward. It was MVP from the beginning and deserves the placement on my list, so congrats for making it to the big leagues Twilight!
6. Bad Girls Don’t Die series by Katie Alender
Umm this book is the one that gave me chills at night when I was going to sleep, it was the one that made me scuttle under my sheets, it terrified me. But I loved it and the whole series, like it had going on from the beginning all the way till the end and even from there I still wanted more. This book has honestly turned me onto the thrillers more and more, making me a buff of horror (even though I was already into the horror); I really think it taught me the difference between cheap thrills and long lasting fears. So it’s really good, and I think you guys should check this book out, because ultimately if your like me you’ll actually loves it!
5. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
This book let me tell you, is just really good because of the romance, the science fiction basis and the just really good characters, which drew me in from the beginning and made me feel apart of the story. This series was apart of my addiction to books about fallen angels because I just thought they were interesting and they made my day because I always wanted to date them lol. But let’s be serious, I knew I could never date one but this just kept the dream alive and made me happy. One thing to add, beware of the major emotions that will be felt because there will be a lot of what I call Bella and Edward drama: new moon edition, so if you were a fan of that, which I don’t know who was, get reading there’s because there’s two or three books after this.
4. The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
LOVEEEE this book, like this is life and any of you who don’t know about this book or don’t like it, I can tell you that we’re going to have to have a duel. Lol, for real though. Like this book was just amazing from the start and had me going at every twist that she was going to make, especially in every book. But like honest, in book three literally I was a page turning vampire sucking all of the words I could get off each page, like that’s how good her books are. And can we just take a second to acknowledge Noah and Mara, like they were goals AF and I wish I could find a guy like that. Case and Point.
3. Fallen by Lauren Kate
Ooooh I have so much to say about this one, and let me just begin by saying DAAMN DANIEL, like that’s how explosive this book can get and trust me this book had me in shambles like it’s not right to do this to me. And that same kind of yo-yoing was happening all the way to the end like no. But I was in my trance because of the delicious characters and the plot with all of those fallen angels and the greatest back story ever, like this was the book that started my obsession from the beginning. I just… have no more words. Just read it, and you’ll see.
2. The Selection by Kiera Cass
This series was so good, like I couldn’t get enough of it. It was like a reality T.V. show that fulfilled my secret desire but that was so much more different. It was like all No I don’t want to leave, then Oh fine I’ll go to F**k this mess to OMG he’s so cool, and it all progressed to the last book, well not last but before the generational change, and it all was just a satisfying mess (also the little thoughts were from the main character, just to be clear lol). This book also had its ups and downs to the point that I wanted to either smack or punch somebody, you know who I’m talking about if you read the last book in the last pages. It just gave me problems, which made it so much better, like the character and the mess put together was like heaven and I must admit I was in heaven while reading this.
1.Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This… Was My Life at 1:30 A.M and still is. The greatest series to me and, lets just say the best characters I’ve ever seen, well almost but like really close. This series had everything, it had the romance, the action, the love triangle, the ups and downs, and especially an epic love, and lets just say the hottest guy ever read about. It IS LIFE. So guys get the book and start living because It’s that good, I swear.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this, and come back next Wednesday to see my favorite stand alone books, because you might see something you want to read. And guys I don’t duel it was just a joke I had to tell because it’s so funny lol not. But anyways enjoy your Wednesday morning and have a good day my lovelies!
So I know you guys aren’t priests but you guys are like my judge and jury so I wanted to confide in you. As you guys know, or don’t know, I take AICE Literature and these type of classes are super competitive and for some countries means an entry into college but I live in the U.S. So we really don’t take it that serious, as we should, but it’s life. But today I want to really just tell you something that makes me feel so bad. Seriously.
The books that are required for reading are just like ughhhhh, and I hate them like I just can’t, and I know you guys right now are like shrieking in despair yelling “Setierah IS A FRAUD!!!” lol but I’m not, I swear. I love reading, don’t get me wrong but I don’t like books that feel pretentious and overdone, you know what I mean. Like this book House Of Mirth is a great example about a society that is horribly miserable whose main job is to make happy people upset and dead inside, and the people trying to get in jump through hoops just to get criticized. I think this book is a great example of society now just minus the money and you’ll get the same tortured chaos that was presented in the book, but what makes it worse is the way women are described and forced to marry. Maybe this is a personal issue but the whole situation creates a biased reaction from me. I just hate it.
And so in knowing this and trying to read this, I despise this class and the reading in it. I just can’t relate to the main character and I don’t even know why I don’t. Maybe it’s because of the point of view the author chose to write in, or based on the personality of the character, or the way she was “supposed to be” but the character was really distant, like miles away. But also, I don’t know if it’s just me but the story just dragged on like it was like a soap opera but without the interesting plot twists and fabulous personalities of the characters. It was just plain boring and I hated it. It’s like if I wanted to read about this I could just watch someone’s life.
So this is how I feel and I just wanted to tell you so I could get it off my chest, and I know that it was only one book but it has affected my whole time in the class because I don’t want to write about something that I can’t stand you know. And it’s not like every book in that class is horrible but one book affects all other books. Kinda, sorta even though I’m trying to not sound prejudice or judgmental or whatever they call people like me lol (I hope they’re good names lol). So that’s all, so I’ll just walk into the sunset for my total honesty today, and see you on Tuesday I think lol.
So today I’m reviewing the book Alice by Christina Henry, and I’m happy to say that this is the first book that I have read in the New Year so yay to me! But also, this trippy ride is the thing that broke my reading slump so a big thanks to Ms.Christina Henry. So let me get to the gooey insides, beware some of you might freak and others might be right at home.
Warning: If bothered by sexual violence and rape then please do not read this book because most of the story is based around this topic and becomes even darker than you could imagine.
In a world where two cities have separated into the new and old, evil prevails and good suffers in the shadows. The Old city is where it all began for Alice, it was a place where she was deeply changed. It all started with this tea party, a gruesome tea party to celebrate her best friend’s birthday. Now she’s trapped in a four wall cell, with no understanding of how, when or what, but she remembers three things: there was a tea party, blood, and rabbit ears. The storyline was very well done, I mean it had me on my toes every chapter wondering what the hell was going on, lol.
But really, this book did make me wonder but in a good way, like the way you wonder what’s going to happen to the main character of your favorite show (isn’t this what you wanted Olivia, lol a pat on the back if you know where the character comes from). But the plot was a twisty trip through the dark alleys of the old city, where the characters quest to find out what a tea party, blood, and ears equals.
The plot was absolutely crazy and unique and the characters turned out to be just as great. Alice, the first main character was full of surprises, I mean her character evolved in every two chapters. It was great to see the character change into something stronger instead of weaker. Overall, Alice was a strong woman that I admired even though she had her low points, she basically was a real life human being. Hatcher was my favorite character because he was so predictable but kept his predictability fun and interesting. I mean at some parts you just knew he was going to do something that put them both in danger, but you would either laugh at it or you would just shake your head and say “That’s hatcher for you”.
But all and all it was a pleasure to see him in his crazy and insane ways because he truthfully made me laugh. Throughout the journey, these two are dependent on each other for many different reasons, but one being that they were both crazy and mad. It was really cute to see them as a couple because they were both perfectly made for each other.
To conclude, this book is absolutely breathtaking in its darkness and leaves a lasting effect of wanting more. This book is definitely worth a read, but just to give another warning just be careful because the topics can be a bit dark and is overwhelming. Awesome book, I mean I loved it and can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

You don’t know how to be alone with yourself. And if you block out the world, there you’d be.” I know this is a long line but you get why I love reading this book, soo yeah.

Umm before I began to do this survey, I was actually watching my favorite movie Fifty Shades of Grey and before I get yelled at for liking a movie that, quote on quote “supports sexual abuse and violence against women”, which is absolutely nuts. If anything, this movie supports a women’s sexual journey from being a virgin to now becoming a new in-depth woman, but not being a virgin doesn’t change you. But let me stop because honestly this is getting awkward.

So thanks guys for sticking with me for 98 questions, there were two repeat questions so I decided to delete them. But I hoped you guys enjoyed getting to know more about me because some people don’t even know half of the things you guys now know so enjoy being one up. So Have a great day guys and I will see you guys on Monday.
So today will mark my first day for blogmas because last week was absolutely too busy to even blog on so I decided to do it this week and next week and see how I feel about doing it every day for the rest of my life, like for real my struggle. But umm this is my small introduction which I have no idea why I do them if I’m not reviewing something but anyways.
So like this morning when I walked into my grandma’s house, I noticed one of my favorite things that I thought I would never get to have, College acceptances! LOL one college acceptance letter because everyone else wants to process it still, but I got accepted guys. I even announced it on twitter, which you might know if you follow me, which you should. Like twitter is my fave!
But literally I was so excited because this means I’m actually college material which I’ve been doubting since the beginning of senior year, isn’t that positive. But on a serious note, I’m sooo thankful for this, especially because they also provided money for me to go to school there, which is surreal right now. Like I literally cried from the moment I found out.
Disclaimer: I’m not sharing this to brag or anything because I’m not like that, so to you guys who think I’m bragging I swear I’m not. Like I would never brag about this, I’m just generally happy about being able to go to college and fulfill my lifelong dreams, even if I have grammatical errors in this post lol! But seriously!
I mean if, anything I thought rejection would be my life for right now, and I imagine that it fell like this.
I mean this is worse than college rejection, I mean having your daughter fake a pass like that is just wrong. I would probably cry if that happened to me. But yeah, I think every senior believes that they aren’t college material and to that I say NAY!
Anyways, I have a question, for any of you guys do you watch youtube videos all day on vacation because it always seems that I do that and only that because you know youtube is that procrastination life. Lol, actually one of my goals in life is to be one of those places that make people want to procrastinate with me because honestly, that means your super interesting. That’s kind of like a popularity scale for me, ranging from so bored you’ll do your calculus over reading my posts to forget about school she’s life. Like GOALS!
But the goals of that will never be reached or will it, you never know! I mean if it doesn’t work you can always do something easy like becoming a doctor, or beyonce, it’s not hard lol.
But enough of me wasting your guys time, and to you who are on vacation have a great vacation and do something different every day to live your life and to you who aren’t hang in there, it gets better! Before I go here’s my question to you on vacation: what are you guys doing this vacation? And those of you not: what’s your favorite artist to get you through school?
Love you guys,
P.S Leave me comments and follow me on twitter because they make me happy 🙂
It is I Setierah, and well I have an announcement that due to the holidays I will not be blogging anymore. I made this decision because I’m tired of not getting as many views as others, sooooooo…….. I’m going to stop. Lol I’m literally just kidding and I’ll be blogging for 12 days straight and I will even do a giveaway for you guys. But things will be different, I won’t be just talking about books, I’ll have a chance to allow you guys into my life for 12 days. These 12 days will probably consist of me either at school, work, or at home. So basically, how I want this to work is I’ll be taking pictures and basically posting them on my blog with my little speil (made a new word, like what I did there) of what I did. But I also am going to be putting a big amount of things on Snapchat, so if you guys want to see my life then you should really join me on snap. Anything further just come to my blog for that much. But that is it my dears, and I am going to keep this short and sweet and will see you on Sunday to start my blogmas off.
Hey guys, its me Setierah and I’m here with a new post, but its a little different today, I did a collaboration with Alysyn from ReinReads and it was absolutely amazing. She talks about her most enjoyable book and yeah, so check it out! Also, my post is on her site so I’ll link it below for you guys to check it out. But enough of that, here’s her post!
My name is Alysyn from ReinReads, & I’d like to say a big thank you to Setierah from Slayer Of Ya for doing this collaboration with me! I’m supposed to pick the most enjoyable book I’ve ever read, which is so hard! But enjoyable, doesn’t necessarily mean best, it just means the book I really was the most happy reading. I’m restricting myself to stand-alone books & books that I haven’t reviewed yet on my blog, & my choice is Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
The cover is gorgeous. The characters are loveable. The story is upbeat, but moving. & most importantly, for this topic, the ending was enjoyable. It’s one of those books I read all in one sitting & from start to finish, I felt engaged & happy.
I knew I’d love it once the characters started talking about how much they love William Carlos Williams. It’s a very simple, yet moving story. A coming of age tale that covered issues with the Vietnam war, race, identity, sexuality, etc. However, it never once feels as though the reader is being lectured, which is a problem for a lot of YA books that try to tackle too many topics.
Initially I thought Ari was a bit whiney, but his voice grew on me & instead I came to see him as hardened, like he describes himself. Dante was my favorite character. If I could just have a son like him one day, that’d be great.
In the beginning they sounded a bit too young to be fifteen, but this was a different time period & they’re supposed to be a bit weird. They also grow up quite a bit as the book goes on.
I like how important the role of their parents were. Often parents are absent in YA books, but these were an integral part of the story. I loved how they were described as “intimate strangers,” like that feeling you get when you see your father cry for the first time.
My only complaint was that my edition had some typos in it, the hardcover reprint form 2014 with all the awards on the front. I also didn’t really enjoy the dream bits, they were too closely related with what was happening in the story. Saenz has talked about this a bit, he describes the reality seeping into the dreamworld like “air seeping out of a tire,” but it just wasn’t doing it for me.
It’s my most enjoyable read because the characters themselves are so enjoyable. Dante is so positive & his relationship with Ari makes them better people. I definitely recommend it!
So I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as she enjoyed that book and have a great day guys!!
It’s me Setierah here with another post for a book called Strange Country Day. This post was really made because I was honestly so curious of the background of the name Strange Country Day, and I thought that you guys must be too, so me and the author came together and answered the big question of a lifetime. So keep reading to see his excellent answer on why he picked the name for this wonderful book.
Why did you choose the name ‘Strange Country Day’?
When I sat down to write “Strange Country Day,” I knew I needed the perfect name for the school my characters would attend. I had the names of other fictional schools as inspiration: Wayside School (courtesy of Louis Sachar), the infamous Crunchem Hall from “Matilda”, Harry Potter’s Hogwarts and Hailsham of “Never Let Me Go” fame.
“SCD” is the middle grade story of a group of seventh graders who discover they have special abilities without knowing how they got them. The protagonist, Alexander Graham Ptuiac, and his pal Dex Harrison, use those powers to join their junior high school football team. You might be able to tell that I like weird, wacky character names, and the same goes for other monikers. I wanted the school’s name to invoke something otherworldly was going on, so it popped into my head while writing the first chapter: Welcome to Vance M. Strange Country Day School.
I drew inspiration from my own experience attending Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, which many people referred to as “Riverdale Country Day.” I always felt there were some untold, underground stories from the past given its rich history and I remembered hoping I’d find a secret passageway through a trap door in the back of the library (nope!). But I carried over that feel and the idea there were decades of tradition passed on through each generation.
I didn’t realize right away that “Strange Country Day” was a great title – my working name for the book was“The Outcasts,” a superhero group like the X-Men (my all-time favorite comic book). Instead, I was advised to focus on a high school filled with some, well, strange stuff going on. I knew that was the right decision while in attendance at this year’s BookCon in New York City. While signing the first copies of my novel, the cover caught the eye of a woman walking by with her two daughters. She pointed to it and said, “Oh, like Rye CountryDay,” referring to the suburban New York private school they attended. Success! Here’s to hoping other readers give the book and its title a passing grade.
Well I absolutely think that the book has a suitable name, which absolutely creates so many questions in my mind about the book. Good job for creating a name that will cause many different questions that will cause perplexed reactions. Because this honestly makes me want to read this book for more information, which I hope you guys feel the need to read the book because honestly the struggle is real! A big thanks to Charles Curtis and Tantrum /Month 9 books, as well as chapter by chapter for allowing me this great experience.
I really hope you guys check out the book and even read it because to me the cover is A1 (just look below) while the name is super intriguing. If you want to buy the book or check it out, I’ll leave all the links below and you’ll even be able to click the image for more deats. Have lovely days everyone and I’ll talk to you in my next post.
It is I Setierah with an interview of the wonderful author, Caroline Patti, who I am absolutely grateful to have met and interviewed because she’s so freaking cool. But besides being cool, she’s also the great writer of Into the dark which will be out in 8 or 9 days. So be sure to get to Amazon to either order a paperback or pre-order the kindle edition here before they run out guys (you can click amazon or here to get to the page, as well as the picture lol). But anyways, enough of my marketing and here’s the interview, and make sure to stay tuned for the giveaway at the end!
1.What is a common theme used between your books? Why did you choose this theme?
There is always a good versus evil thread running through everything I write. What I love to do with this theme is muddy it up. I love to make the line between the two not only flimsy but vague and arguable. I choose this theme because it is the ultimate question that everyone has to answer, what is the right thing to do? It’s so delicious to pose that choice and make the answer unclear.
2. How has S.E. Hinton’s book The Outsiders influenced your writing style? How has she influenced your career, if possible?
S.E. Hinton is a genius. I am not worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence with her. Just the other day, on Twitter, I mentioned that I managed to snag a signed copy of The Outsiders and that it is one of my most prized possessions, and she actually tweeted ‘thank you’ to me. I almost fell out of my chair. If I can claim any influence at all, it is through her ability to write strong characters. Her characters are captivating and their voices are clear. This is something I always strive for in my own writing.
S.E. Hinton is in a category with Judy Blume and Roald Dahl—they’re in another stratosphere. The rest of us will always be on Earth looking up to them.
3. Personally I love twitter because it’s my own diary that I can write devious thoughts in to make my day move faster, but why do you love twitter? Do you find it a useful way to communicate with other authors or fans of your writing?
Twitter changed my life. If I could somehow express my gratitude to it properly, I would. But how do you send a website a box of chocolates? Without Twitter, Into the Dark would not be what it is today. While I was schlepping through rough draft after rough draft, I stumbled upon #YALITCHAT and there I met its creator, Georgia McBride. At the time, she was offering editing services, so I begged and pleaded and she eventually agreed to help me. She and I went round and round for a few months and then I decided that the book really did suck and it was time to scrap it. I remember I sent Georgia an email explaining that I gave up; I was done. But she wouldn’t let me quit. Eventually, the book really started to take shape and when Georgia started Month9Books, Into the Dark had a publisher.
I haven’t done much connecting with fans yet. I’m hoping that’s around the bend. But Twitter is an excellent place to chat with other authors and make great connections.
4. What gave you the idea to write Into the Dark? Was there a specific moment or day that bamboozled the idea in your head?
I was at my daughter’s dance studio. Have you seen Dance Moms? It was kind of like that, but without the psychotic mothers. Anyway, I was bored and my mind started to wander and that’s when Claire Henry introduced herself to me. She had quite the dilemma. She thought she was pregnant, but turns out she was really a Breacher and she was getting ready to split from her body for the first time. Several revisions later, Claire Henry became Mercy Clare and the rest, as they say, is history.
5. How would you describe your regular writing days versus your “weird” writing days?
My regular writing days involve a smelly dog at my feet, some music and usually 1500-2000 words written. My family is uber supportive of what I do, and though they interrupt me constantly, they know when I really need space to get things done.
A weird day for me is when I go into some sort of trance and the words pour out of me at an alarming rate. My record is 10,000 words in one day. I’ve come close to that on several other occasions. It’s almost as if I’m possessed by my characters. They give me bathroom breaks though, so I’m okay.
6. What’s your absolute favorite part about being a writer? Why?
Without the creative outlet of writing, I’d be an insane person who hears voices. My favorite part of being a writer is making readers feel. I love to make readers cry, get angry, etc.. I love the manipulation. Kidding. What I love is the chance to make a reader connect to the characters/story in the same way that I do.
7. Use one word to describe Into the Dark?
8. Describe Mercy’s fashion sense versus her friend Layla? How do they differ?
Mercy’s fashion sense is much more understated and practical. She’s not averse to fashion, necessarily, but she likes to be comfortable. Mercy is much more at ease in a pair of distressed jeans with a loose t-shirt. Her style is effortlessly cool. Lyla is a statement maker. She likes to be noticed the minute she steps out into the world. Bright red lips are a must. Lyla is the type of girl who would Instagram her fashion choices daily.
9. What was the hardest part about writing Into the Dark? Why?
The most difficult aspect of writing Into the Dark was letting go of what I’d originally intended to write. I had a seven book series planned that would span the week that Mercy had to make her big decision. But the concept was detrimental to the project. I was withholding information and trying to be secretive, which killed the story. It was important to let it go, to jump right into the action and let the story unfold organically. I made peace with the idea that it might be a stand-alone. Turns out it’s a two book series.
10. Because I freaking love sweet treats, What’s your favorite sweet treat?
I am a walking candy counter. I have cycles where I can’t get enough of one specific treat. Right now it’s Red Vines. I’m eating them by the barrel.
I feel you I have candy everywhere, and thanks for you guys that tuned in for the interview because it means a lot to me and the author Caroline Patti, and I hope you check the book out, I heard from a little birdie that the book is absolutely great:)! But about books, you guys can purchase or enter a giveaway to win a book down below in the links and up there in my intro. So look there and have a good day!
So as you can see from the title, we have things to discuss. Which is personally better than just writing about what I read in July, which I hate to break it to you but I only read one book, which absolutely sucks! I think us having monthly discussions about my life (not to seem self-centered but lol jk) and your life will keep our lives in balance. But don’t ask how lol. Anyways, Moving on.
The first thing to discuss is what I am reading for this month, which is so freaking exciting because I’m actually reading!
Fearless 2 by Francine Pascal-
I’m honestly WAY more excited for this book then all of the other books because honestly I can’t wait for some bad-ass beat downs with sarcastic, non-emotionless comebacks. Like I might not be selling the book too well but this whole entire series is so enticing to me, like no lie.
2. Plus One by Elizabeth Fama-
I really have no idea what this book is about but I like the cover a lot and think it could be worth read. Like this was impulse buy from book outlet, so we will see how this book turns out. I have really high hopes, and if any of you has read it please tell me about it in the comments.
3. Your Voice is All I Hear by Leah Scheier-
I’m actually already reading this book, on my android and ipad, but I can’t really give you a cohesive “review” of the book because I’m not far enough. But so far it’s very interesting and plus it isn’t out yet, which is always fun. So definitely pre-order the book to read it with me lol and maybe we can write a review together! 🙂
4. Trust No One by Paul Cleave-
So like the previous book, I have started this book I haven’t finished but I can say that the book is starting out a little slow and developing into a mystery sort of thing, but I’ll let you know how that goes. This book just came out a few days ago (1 or 2 days ago) so definitely check out the reviews and all that jazz and let me know what you thought of the book yourself.
Okay, for my bookish news let me be fast and nimble like Jack lol. I am reading for the Booktubeathon, that I definitely failed last year, and hoping that I finish all of the challenges. So if you want to know what I’m reading, I’ll let you know all the deets next week after it has finished so I can definitely focus and get done. But no I won’t be participating in the twitter sprints because I have no idea lol. On to the next!
Time to introduce 25% of my life to you guys, which is big, you guys are getting special treatment lol. So as you know summer must come to an end for a lot of people, the high school and college population especially, and school starts back up full force with homework, annoying teachers and nonsense rules. Can you tell I absolutely love school yet, lol no. But I am stressing this year because I have college applications due by January and I barely even have a 1500 on my SAT, so I am stressing out. Badly. What is a girl supposed to do, bat her eyelashes and smile until she gets accepted into that college? Umm I don’t think that works anymore Betty Boop, sorry.
But that’s my school thing that’s going on, and now I have a fun announcement! It’s My Birthday This Month!!!!!!
Which means that my second year blogging is here and I just have no Idea what to say, I’m just so happy. Happy to reach out to how ever many people I do and I’m just happy to be the one doing it and I don’t have any idea what to say right now. So before I start crying tears of happiness, let us discuss the celebration.
It’s September 11th-25th, there will be giveaway’s and posts and things that I don’t even know about yet, but just come and show up that week to my blog and it’ll be an extravaganza.
So I hope you enjoyed and well if you didn’t, too damn bad it took me forever to make it so you like it or go somewhere else than my blog. So have a good night and remember this ecard, it might actually thrill you!
It is I Setierah stopping by to write a post, and I have to say that it is good to be back like work has been excruciatingly long and tiring that every chance I have to kick-back and relax I either: fall asleep, stare off into the distance like a creep, or eat pigishly (I made that word up). But I’m happy to write for you guys and not be a creep, because honestly I’m halfway to becoming a weirdo. But on the topic at hand I would like to discuss finishing books, and I really chose this topic because finishing a book is definitely the hardest thing to do. I swear it’s super hard because you have these moments with the book that no one may ever know about, which just means you guys attached at the hip, which is the one thing that every one is dying to have. So let’s get down to the nitty grittiness of finishing books.
Finishing books, the worst absolute thing that has to be done (when liked) since school was invented. Let’s be honest, all of us readers dread finishing books because it’s like an end to the alternate world we wish our life was, just like the twilight series phase. So the question still remains: How do I break with my book on nice terms? Well to be honest, breaking up with books (finishing books) isn’t easy because you mainly go through the pain yourself because the book has no feelings and pretty much does this everyday like a machine. You feel used don’t you? But you shouldn’t, if a book has many readers it’s a good thing and is the ONLY exception to cheating. Embrace the book’s loving arms and enjoy the moments you and the book had, and when it’s time to go save the tears for your friends to listen to because the book is already on to the next culprit.
I’ve actually been this foolish reader, who was absolutely infatuated with the prestigious writing and riveting characters. Believe me, when your that deep in love or infatuation you can’t just hit it and quit it, it’s your job to continue reading the book. Like I said, I’ve been in this situation a few times and believe that once your in, your in. So to all of my readers, get attached and love thy book but when it’s time to go, don’t get teary eyed just leave with your pride. It’s so much easier than begging for something that’ll never be, at least until the sequel. And to be honest, sometimes that sequel just doesn’t live up to the expectations but we have to give it a try anyways.
So take my advice and be careful with your love because you’ll be hooked in and cooked to eat like a fish. Read until you can’t see anymore because finishing books will always hurt like a knife to the heart. So anyways, that was my quick post and come back for my review of a couple of books you didn’t even know I read, you might even enjoy my reactions.
Lets talk about this distress we all go through called, DNFing. As readers we all have days where certain books, that we’re forced to read or we’re recommended to read that just don’t come through, and we drop them. But people take DNFing so serious, and to that I say, what the hell is wrong with you?
Why do readers, especially book bloggers, take it So Damn Serious? Like I know some of you are screaming, “it’s just a dang book“, but then again I understand why we book bloggers take it so seriously. DNFing is an act that tells an author that they basically sucked at writing that book, and most of us don’t want to say that about someone’s book. Basically saying that about someone’s book is like ruining your whole career on purpose, and your not really ruining your career your just telling the truth. And lets be honest, telling the truth scares people so much because then they have to realize that they aren’t going to be perfect and finish every book they read. Like while the book bloggers who sleep a perfect night’s sleep and while having a daily post every day without struggling to find something to write about; I’m here being a real girl, getting no sleep to deliver a fantastic discussion post for my audience while planning a great next month ahead. Being perfect isn’t going to ever be real, so to all of those book bloggers who say you must finish a book-with a pointed finger, and a dissaproving look- I say NO!
Who says we, the people, have to finish every single part of the book! Who says we should have to be bored to death, with words that have an intention of taking our souls and molding them into old people that follow the rules! We are the young, the restless, the rebellious! So no to finishing all the way through, to hell with wasting my time reading words with no intention of entertaining me. This is what I believe, and this is what I live my life by, but I will explain both sides to the story.
My side of the story includes three points: wasting time, boring yourself, and being honest with yourself. First let me address that finishing a book that doesn’t interest you is just wasting your precious time, that could perhaps be used to achieve some peace in the world, or even create a masterpiece like Da Vinci, or Micheal Angelo. It’s just a huge waste of time that sucks all of your energy away. While sucking your energy away it kills every interesting body part that you have in you, even your reproductory organs. Like if the book isn’t doing it for you, then give it up, don’t kill the most interesting parts of yourself for the book. And throughout this whole process you become a liar. Yep, a liar! Let’s just remeber that telling yourself that something is good when it actually sucks gets you no where, at all. Especially when your reading. Don’t lie to yourself like some of these readers, lets be honest to ourselves.
But there is another side to this argument. And it’s to finish the book even if you can’t even stand a word in it. Don’t ask me why, but numerous book bloggers continue to read the book to not only increase their hatred towards the book but to “gain a better perspective on the book”.
Dude in my opinion, if the book sucks on the first page its going to suck on the last page and thats me saying this from a professional perspective. To do a review means you give your real impression of the book while being real to your audience, and by forcing yourself to finish the book you become almost fake because your actions tell readers that book is worth a read and it isn’t. Like your egging your audience on with your actions to read and finish a book that they can’t stand and for what?! For what is the question I would ask every book blogger that doesn’t DNF and powers through, because powering through just to insult someone’s hard work is worse than putting the book away.
So I invite you guys to rant back to me or whatever, but this is how I feel and it will always be how I feel. And I am not sorry for feeling this way, because it’s me being honest and not being perfect which I hope you guys would respect me for. So thanks for reading and have a great day guys!
So I know many of you have, hopefully, been patiently awaiting my review of Afterworlds, once again I said hopefully. But anyways, I’m so excited to even talk about my experience with the book because it was absolutely amazing. My experience was eye opening towards a world of Scott Westerfield’s masterpieces, and while a little skeptical I went all the way. Not that way, but I legit completed the whole 600 pages. So here’s my inside scoop of Scott Westerfield’s Afterworlds.
First of all, let me just acknowledge the riveting characters in this book. Like the characters made the world even realer, to me at least (let’s not mention other reviews). Lizzie, to me, was the girl I would dream to be because she had my dream qualities of being a protective friend while succeeding and actually growing as a person. As a character, I never got bored with her and never thought her to be the same as any other female lead. However, Darcy was maybe the most predictable character out of every one. Maybe it was because of her reality towards the world but I sort of could tell what she was and wasn’t going to do. This does not mean, by any means, that I didn’t like her. I liked her just a little less as female lead versus Lizzie. The other characters were great and mysterious and should be left mysteries upon mysteries for you to unravel.
The plot, could very well be a story without characters. It was so well developed and full of twists and turns that yes it could stand alone. But the characters do add a depth to the environment that was needed. I enjoyed the plot very much because it offered a uniqueness that many plots don’t offer. It was fun, funny and mysterious, which definitely caught my eye. But I shall leave out details that may spoil anything. Believe me you’ll absolutely thank me for not telling you what the story is about.
So I can only hope that you guys thought my review helpful and interesting because, I honestly enjoyed reading over to myself many times. But that’s all the information I can offer and hope you guys have a lovely day.
So recently I was nominated for The Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award with so many others and well here is me doing the questions that are required of and that I am so happy to do. Here’s the check list of what I have to do:
Thank the blogger who nominated you. √
Put the award logo on your blog. √
Answer ten questions. √
Make up ten new questions. √
Nominate ten bloggers & notify them. √
So I have to thank alysynreinhardt a million times for giving me this huge opportunity, like it’s these sorts of things that makes me love to blog even more! But besides just thanking her, here are my answers to her following questions.
1. Drink of choice while reading? Coffee or tea? Red wine or white? None?
Drinks? This really depends on my environment, like if I’m sitting at Starbucks I’m enjoying either a hot chocolate or an Ice Passion Tea. But if I’m at home I’m usually waaayyyyy healthier and have water or Ice tea. So it just depends on where I’m at.
2. Name an indie or lesser known author that’s a favorite of yours. Why? Link to their stuff if you can!
Ok so I have to be honest, Once I did this reviewing job a year ago for a book full of short Horror stories and let me tell you, you’ve never read horror until you read this guy’s horror. Like it was crazy good and I absolutely LOVEDDDD it and I feel his book, The Grind, isn’t as known as it should be and I just can’t express it enough. And furthermore you need to read the book to find out, but here is the great author, Stavro Yianni.
3. Do you think the author’s intent matters most? Or the reader’s interpretation?
Well because reader’s can interpret anything any way like mistaking a banana for a yellow boat is going to happen among different people. So therefore I think the author’s intent is more important than the reader’s interpretation because if the author intends to do something it usually is widespread over that book or series. Where as the reader’s interpretation is different in many respects.
4. What’s a book you were originally not a fan of, but then loved?
Ummmm I would have to say that I wasn’t a big lover of Twilight until I was pushed into reading the book, which made me love it. (Lol sorry to those haters, but I gotta represent my peeps) I don’t know how I could of ever lived without those books, lol.
5. Did you ever have an argument with somebody over/about a book?
Well I don’t know if this counts, but I’m currently taking a course on coursera about Shakespeare and I used the wrong names about my analysis and this person totally just commented something like: It wasn’t them who were fighting, soooo. I was legit looking at my laptop with three reactions:
I honestly felt all three things at the same time because that’s how wrong the comment was, but moving on.
6. Do you write in your books?
No, Not really. I mean I have never written in my own books because I just feel like I’m going against some legal book law about writing in books, so I don’t really practice that. But Stickies are another conversation.
7. Favorite classic book?
Lol does it have to be an actual classic, or could it be my translation of classic? Well I’ll do both of the interpretations. My favorite classic would have to be The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. Like I don’t know there was just something about the book that drew me and still does. My interpretation of classic book would have to be Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrou (actually the whole series is).
8. Favorite recent book? (recent as in, published in the last ten years or so, I guess)
This is like the easiest question all night, Fangirl is my favorite recently published book. Reasons being because the book is freaking amazing and because the book made me so jealous of a relationship that they had and I didn’t lol. Plus the writing, characters and plot but yeah. (Like this post if you are a fangirl over Fangirl).
9. Do you think authorship is especially important? For example, if I’m from New York, should I only write in the voice of someone from New York? What about different ethnicities or genders? Does this only apply when the narration is first-person
I am 50 shades of grey on this question (not in that way you nasties lol), like I think it does matter but I mean I don’t think you would die if someone didn’t use great authorship skills. But I think that if you are writing a story from a different POV or setting that you aren’t familiar with, you should definitely do some research. This research is the most important (and fun) part in developing a POV, setting or anything that you have no clue about! It’s like that cheat sheet someone gives you to copy.
10. Favorite book villain or bad guy?
Lol honestly I spent 20 minutes, just right now, thinking about all the bad guys in books I’ve read forever ago but I finally have one. Stone, from Anomaly. And I know all of you who read that book are going to want to slap me but he was just a made up character, full of deception that I wanted to love but he broke my heart. Mannnnn, I had high hopes for him.
So that was it, but here’s the fun part I get announce some people, I picked for this award and this is also free to anyone just wants to do this, soooo. Get ready, set, listen up!
Hi My Lovelies, so I know I haven’t wrote a post in a week or two if I am not mistaken. But here is a fun post, that I hope you guys like because I LOVE these types of posts because you get to know my crazy self. And honestly who doesn’t like reading these tags, like only crazy people don’t! But anyways here’s the tag, and I hope you try it your self because I tag you all!
1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?
Honestly, I have no exact way of picking what I read next. Like whatever I feel at that moment is what I do, it’s more of a feeling thing for me. Its using my feels that helps me evaluate my choices of books and what’s the best choice out of all of them.
2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?
You might hate me for this decision, but I’m a ride or die if its real and leave it be if it’s not. (Like this post if you feel the same exact way, because we don’t waste time that we could be sleeping lol) I honestly just move on to the next because I hate wasting my time and I think reading a book that doesn’t intrigue you is totally just madness.
3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?
The answer to this is YES, I am a fighter to the end and will always will be. There is nothing better than the race to finish before 12 am, especially while tweeting your success. Personally, I read as many books that I have an arms length to get to the range of my challenge. But be a fighter, don’t be a whiner.
4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?
I don’t cope, I scream at the top of my lungs until I convince the publishers to change the new covers to the old covers again. No, lol I’m just kidding but to be honest I would probably cry until I actually get something accomplished and changed. Which can be effective, ha!
5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?
Well honestly my process would have to be, 1. going to good reads and searching for the worst reviews I can find while scoffing at really good reviews. Then I read those bad reviews, tweet about how bad the book is and then go to sleep. It’s a full proof plan that works.
6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?
OMG, lol this actually happened like I was reading Fault in Our Stars and (the saddest part happened to be what I was reading) I’m at a dentist office on my iPad, and my eyes start watering almost even springing some tears down. But basically, with my under explained story, I’m saying I usually let it happen and then tell people whats wrong when they ask. Their reactions seem to be so funny like for real.
7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?
So I do exactly what people say not to do, I cheat. Not like cheating on a test, but like cheating by either stalking other blogs for a synopsis or searching google like a cat searching for food. Do I always find my answers? 99.8% of the time I find answers, and .2% is me going back to reread books. Like I don’t re-read books, ever! I don’t know why though, I guess that’s how I was raised lol.
8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?
I say “NO, NO, NO, NO buy your own books, THESE ARE MINE!”In the most childish voice you could ever imagine me doing. But by now I know you guys must be thinking I’m nuts if I say this to people and I hate to disappoint you but I don’t actually say that. It goes more like a staring contest between us, until I finally work up enough courage to TRY and trust someone with my book.
9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?
Easy! I go on a Netflix BENDER, like yessssss. Who doesn’t, I would hope that you guys do the same thing as me because if you don’t, we have some serious things to talk about. Just kidding. But ummm, I really just watch the new seasons of Bones or I watch a series of horror movies until I’m scared out of my mind. Someone needs to take my Netflix away, lol.
10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?
Based on my buying history, I would have to say that I would buy all of the books If my paycheck can be touched at that time. Like if you don’t know my track record than you don’t know that I am absolutely addicted to buying books, like take everything away from me EXCEPT those, not my sparkles.
11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?
In my expert opinion, usually my TBR would just grow longer and longer, because it really depends where my head is. Whether I’m tired or upset, I read whenever but it solely depends on what I bought to read and what is already in priority.
So thank you guys for reading this post and I hope you liked my tag that I took, and I absolutely love. Here’s the fun part though, I get to tag all of you suckers, so ha ha ha! Have fun and I wish you all a great day!
So I had to totally talk about something that is very important. So as you may know I am a book junkie, like I mean if books could be snorted I would lol. Like I would be on that book drug. But I hate when you go on book outlet and your like “Today is the day that I buy ten books without being ashamed of myself”, or we all at the very least want to feel that way but it all way turns out like “WHY, Like why did I have to spend $50.00 on books, I don’t understand”, and then 30 minutes later we’re like “OMG, there’s new books on book outlet.” (tell me I’m not the only one who does this).
The point is, I am struggling with my newly found addiction to buying books, and not like 2 or 3 books, but like 10. I am addicted to buying books and haven’t been able to buy any books for the last two months, because of the happiness the new book brings me. I mean don’t you like the first 5 minutes at looking at at a babies face, well that’s what looking at the cover for 5 minutes is like for me. I am definitely at peace when I see those covers, like they keep me calm and make me feel good.
So your probably asking me why am I telling you this? Well, it’s simple. I am admitting my addiction to buying books. And what better way to tell, then tell my audience, small but great, audience. I even invite anyone to comment on my post if you are addicted.
That’s all I really have to say, and thank you guys that read my words, and appreciate my words. I truly love you guys and think that telling you guys the truth is the most important thing ever, and will always be the most important thing for me guys to tell you guys. So, this is the truth and I hope you guys tell me whatever you need to admit, I don’t mind.
I have a book review that may thrill you, maybe even kill you when I’m finished. Prepare for what I am about to tell you.
In a different kind of book you’ll experience something known as insanity. I know what your thinking, insanity is a kind of word to describe something that is in a world of madness but how else could you describe a book that throws you unknowingly into a world you have no idea about. The word insanity describes this book perfectly. Well maybe not perfectly, but pretty much fits.
In preafatio, a story is told in an odd way, leaving you, me and Dupree clueless. Meaning that the author doesn’t tell us anything until she feels like telling us. The plot begins with a mysterious character, in a police car on the way to the police station. In the police station we have no idea what’s happened to the character. Then the story begins, and I’m not spoiling. I promise that you’ll thank me for not telling you anything going into the book, because trust me you will want to find out. The one thing I will share is that, this plot is different from any other plots created in this genre.
In her characters, I felt the secondary characters were better created then the main ones. I know what you guys are going to get at, but the characters made in first person were basically very complex, sometimes throwing the plot off. Like with the female lead, Grace, she was strong but divided, meaning that she was two different people at the same time. At one minute she was this strong, bold girl who’d could face anything; then she seemed to change into being a wimpy, cry baby. This contrast between the two different hers stretched me until I was like the tall, taffy kid in Willy Wonkas chocolate factory. I mean I liked her but I felt like I would need to be the girl who slaps her friend to say, “SNAP OUT OF IT”. Then there was Gavin, who to me was the one that made her a wimpy, crybaby while building her up to be this great leader (which she was). But him himself was a complex guy full of emotions that ran without control. I liked him but felt he was a butthole that was pushy yet lovable. I mean I would probably have a love and hate relationship with him everyday. But to be honest my favorite character in this book though would have to be either Gavin’s father or Grace’s father because they both were simple, and reacted with their environment very well. And they were like legit bad-ass for it.
Overall, I loved this book but hated the questions it left me with, like I legit felt like the author didn’t want me to know what happened. I swear I would’ve read a hundred more pages just to get a clue. I think you guys should definitely read it but with caution because some topics in this book might falter with your religious beliefs, even if it is fiction. But go on and buy this book or borrow, because I promise you will love it.
Hi my fellow online friends how is life on the flip side, like you guys may not know but outside of blogging I go to school. So I’ve been all about my school life right now and let me tell you that is a whole situation in its self. Like right now I’ve been home for about 3 hours and I still haven’t done any homework like I’ve only been thinking about doing it, reading and talking to my friend or something like that lol. I seriously have about 4 years of good procrastination skills, I wonder what I’ll be like when I’m a senior. Okay lets not think about that, like I cringe every time I think about being a senior. But yeah, I’m good and your good, were all good. Especially because school is about to be out lol, but shoutout to all them juniors/seniors that gave up on all nighters and got sleep instead. Shout out to all of you who have developed great procrastination skills, like for real. But that’s all I wanted to say, and I’ll get out of your hair.
So today I’ll be telling you what I read because February was over like years ago lol, but anyways let just jump in.
1. The first book I read was Horror Business by Ryan Craig Bradford, which I did a review for the author (my own thoughts though). But I do have to say this book was really good, and I think that the author did a very good job on writing this book. But just read my thoughts here, you won’t be disappointed.
2. Then I read Valentine In Love, also another review asked of me, and I liked the story very much because it was a short story, while having a great romance for valentines day. I also loved the book because of the compatible male and female but you can read more here.
3. Then I read Afterworlds by Scott Westerfield, which was an absolutely unique book with a great writing style. Basically this book was about Darcy, the writer, finishing the book Afterwolds. Which was about a girl named Lizzie, who survived a terrorist attack and who crosses into a underworld. it’s a crazy good story that everyone should read, especially read the review coming up.
4. Then I read Life in the No Dating Zone, which wasn’t a big like favorite for me because I honestly felt the characters were just a bit dramatic for me like for real. But the story-line was pretty cool for me, at least.
5. Finally I finished the month off with reading Mind Games, which let me tell you was like an explosion in the mind and it was just– yes. The story was about two sisters who had special abilities and went to a “school” for them, and throughout the book shots are fired if you know what I mean. Keep posted for a review, because there will be one coming soon.
So I hope you guys liked this post, and what did you read this month, leave a comment below telling me.
Hey guys so here is the interview from the lovely author, China Dennington. Hope you guys enjoy!
1. What made you want to write a novel at this age? Were you inspired by someone or something? How does it feel to be an author around this time?
A. I don’t know, I’ve always loved to create stories and I’ve had the goal of being a published author for awhile now. It’s exciting! I can’t wait to publish the rest of the trilogy!
2. Where did you get your idea for the book itself? Did you require much research for the topic or did your writing just flow with words.
A. I was doing a typing speed test on one of the National Novel Writing Month websites where I had to write a random story for ten minutes. In that story mermaids and time-travel came up. I decided it was interesting enough that I wanted it to be my next novel.
3. When writing this book, how did you balance your writing with your daily schedule? Was this a very easy task (balancing life) for you to do or did you struggle with it?
A. It was pretty easy. I go to online public school, so my schedule is flexible.
4.If you had to pick any author that has influenced your writing style, who would it be, and why do you think they influenced you? Does this author impact your daily morals or beliefs in your writing?
A. I don’t know that any one author has influenced it, but I love to read emotional scenes. The emotional elements of the book have become very important to me.
5. Has becoming an author changed your inner self in any way, how?
A. It hasn’t changed me, but it’s such an amazing experience to connect with readers through my writing. Reading is usually a very personal experience. When I get caught up in characters while I’m reading, I become invested in their struggles and their story. That’s what I want to happen when people read my books.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed. I definitely did.
So I have this review of a fantasy book and kind of wanted to share it with you. But first of all I want to say that this was a very good debut novel and that it was very unique. Moving onto the review, an adventure from place to place for a meaningful purpose, to save the future is a fantasy lover’s dream.
The characters were all very different, with many refreshing touches to them that I enjoyed. Gale to me, had leader Moments at times but wasn’t a devout leader because she always worried more about her decisions than making decisions. I also felt that she was a soft character and not as strong as female leads can be; I kinda longed for a stronger female with less breakdowns. Force on the other hand, was a very strong leader while being effortlessly calm and collected. He was definitely one of the characters that provided the glue for sticking the story together. Lynn, an older lady with fantastic powers that no one could possibly have; was a great character, who symbolized a great amount of hope and wisdom for others to latch on to. Tivia and Liam both were great characters because of their passion towards helping Gale and Force. With those two characters side by side you could never lose a battle. Junior, my favorite character of all was a cute flamien, and let me tell you he just made my heart do that thing it does when you see your crush walk down the hallway towards you, he was my love of the story lol.
The plot was greatly planned and was very cool to read about. I felt that if Gale had shown more female lead qualities, then the plot would have captured my attention way more than it did. Besides that technicality, I liked the book and enjoyed the mermaid twist to it. But i recommend all fantasy lovers to read the book. I also just want to thank the lovely author, China Dennington for giving me this opportunity to read this book and I applaud her for writing her first book. So that’s all for today folks and have a great day.
p.s. comeback tomorrow for an interview you won’t want to miss. Til Tomorrow! 🙂
So I just realized I have done nothing fun or revealing about myself in forever, so I have a tag today that I hope you guys legit have fun reading. I mean who doesn’t like tags, lol crazy people. Let me stop, anyways here’s the tag.
1. How often do you check Youtube a day?
Honestly I am a Youtube junkie for all things. Like For real, if you look at who I am subscribed to on Youtube you see how diverse I try to be. But anyways I basically visit Youtube everyday ( I totally ignore wordpress, sorry wordpress)
2. What is your favorite type of book video/post to watch/read?
This is like a super easy question for me because I am legit addicted to watching and reading book hauls, like I feel I would never survive without them. I think the science behind this is because I love buying books, and basically I get to snoop on other people on what they purchased so I can justify my buying because of their buying. (I know I’m so shallow)
3. Is there any structure to the types of videos/posts you make each month?
Unfortunately I have no structure to my posts, I basically just go with the flow of what I feel that day. It’s really just tons of words stringed together about the same topic. But on the bright side I keep it fresh and cool every time I write.
4. Do you have any social media related to your channel? If so, which one do you check most frequently?
I do, I actually have my twitter which is @tierah34, that I basically live on each day. When I say live, I legit mean live. I also have a tumblr and an Instagram, but I don’t use those as much as my twitter because I honestly feel that society would shun me from their with all of my posts.
5. Do you write, edit and upload your posts all at once? If not, how do you go about your “blog post making” process?
Well, many times, like now, I do everything on the day of the scheduled post but it depends on two main things. One: If I am in a rush to put a post up for my audience (most of the time). Two: If it is asked or requested of me to put up a specific post. Basically, I’ll schedule the post if it’s for an author/ review company or I’ll just post my writing the day of if it’s my idea.
6. Do you like and comment on all the book posts you read? Or are you a lurker?
Well, it really depends what the post is about. Because sometimes I might not have a comment to what the person is talking about. But if I can definitely relate I love to comment positive words to make someones day!
7. Do you try to review books as soon as you’ve finished them (on Goodreads and Youtube) or do you wait a few days/weeks?
I wait for about three days to let the book digest so I can properly give my views on the book without the immediate feelings of a book occurring. I find it the best thing for me to do.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this ramble filled post about my blogger habits and I tag all of you to do this tag and reveal your habits!
Have a lovely day,
I have a review for you and well do I have some thoughts on it. Swore to never date in High school, no one knows why but they just wonder why. She avoids having a relationship at any cost, and she well falls for someone unexpectedly who thinks he likes someone else. A sweet romance about unexpected love, friendship and breaking bonds in life to move on.
Characters, well the characters in this book were really dramatic about SOOOOO many things, like I liked them but I felt like I was going to smack them every time they talked about their problems (every 4 minutes for me, lol). The main character was so OVER dramatic about her promise of not dating in high school, like all I could say to her is “you trying not to date isn’t going to help anyone.” but I mean I felt I would be like that sometimes, after break-ups. Then Lindsey was like Queen Bitch Bee and she was just to much. I think I much more enjoyed the parts with Gray, because he wasn’t that overly dramatic, there were moments of drama he made but it was minor. Other characters like Rachel, Sean, and other minor characters were refreshing and NORMAL, for me at least.
The characters in this story doesn’t really change the way the plot turns out, but the characters do add some interest in some of the parts of book that can be dull. But I loved the storyline of “he likes her but secretly doesn’t know that he likes someone else”, it was definitely the like best part of the book. Overall, I liked the book, I got annoyed at some petty parts, but the book bought some interesting ideas. So I hope you guys read the book, I recommend it, and enjoy it.
So I have to apologize to you all for having a very late review that was supposed to be up a few days ago, so please bare with me.
Horror movies, a love to all basically a delicacy with tricks and trades. Horror business by Craig Ryan, was a mix of a horror movie, with behind the scenes of making one. People went missing, they were missed but never forgotten to all the lovely parents that still made an effort to look for their children. What happened? A question from all people.
SO, I absolutely adored this book, with a few flaws for me at least, but overall this book had a horror qualities. I loved the plot, but hated how the plot was set up. Like I felt that the sections didn’t correspond to each other but it still made sense. I absolutely loved how the main character was making a horror movie, showing us the script. Also the mystery that came with it was definitely elaborate in details while maintaining the question of where the missing children were. But that’s all I’m telling! You’ll have to read for the rest.
Lets see, the characters were ornate and put together very well. Jason was very articulate for many reasons. Due to being a movie director, he was very nitt picky with small details in his movie. Steve, he was a lady oriented guy who loved horror movies. Kinda just like Jason but weirder. Ally, she was so bipolar, sometimes she was into Jason and movies and other times she was against (not really my favorite) him. I found her just annoying sometimes. Jason’s parents, a victim to their son being missing, were like in a dream like state of sadness. His mom was out of reality and his dad was hitting reality hard (with being a little drunk). Overall, the characters weren’t bad at all had some spunk to them.
Overall, I thought this book was pretty good and interesting, definitely kept my attention (I finished the books so f would recommend it to all you readers (not just saying that lol), especially lovers of horror, like me lol. Have a great day guys!
P.S. A big thanks to the people who provided me the book.
